01/The Challenge

UNSW’s ambition to become Australia’s global university, competing with the world’s best institutions, was held back by a digital estate that had grown to more than 250 websites across 12 content management systems.

The University needed one shared model for digital: more consistent, faster to deliver and easier to govern.

During a five-year partnership, Lumos helped translate UNSW’s digital strategy into enterprise capability, building the foundations, proving the model through delivery and leaving the University equipped to keep evolving it independently.

02/Our Approach

Build the model. Prove it. Embed it.

Lumos worked across leadership, business and technology teams to translate UNSW's strategy into a practical transformation roadmap.

We established shared foundations across platform, data, design, governance and delivery, then applied them through more than 15 priority projects. Together, these initiatives demonstrated how a shared enterprise capability could improve consistency, reuse and delivery across the University.

As the programme matured, we helped establish the governance, workflows and support structures needed to embed the capability into business as usual.

UNSW enterprise digital transformation roadmap

Capability across platform, data and delivery

  • A reusable component framework that allowed teams to create and migrate sites without rebuilding each experience from scratch
  • A consolidated enterprise platform that brought previously separate websites into a more consistent and governable environment
  • Student and degree data connected through the enterprise architecture Lumos helped shape, supporting search, content and more relevant experiences
  • Digital asset management that made visual content easier to find, govern and reuse across teams and channels
  • A repeatable delivery framework that strengthened governance, aligned stakeholders and created a more consistent approach across programmes, projects and delivery partners
  • Co-design, training and enablement that strengthened UNSW’s ability to manage and evolve the ecosystem itself
03/Outcomes
